About Me

Hi, my name is Mily Patton and I was born in San Diego, California. I come from a great family, my parents both served and retired from the military and my oldest sister is currently serving in the Navy (stationed in Hawaii) and my oldest brother is in the Marines (stationed in Japan). In total I have 7 wonderful siblings, 2 older and 5 younger. Growing up I was a very active kid, doing karate, gymnastics, cheer, dance, track and golf. I love reading, writing, cooking, baking and ceramics. Also, creating experimental & editorial short films is something I've gotten into recently.

At my last school, I created an Amnesty chapter where the main focus was to provide a safe space to not only to become more conscious of human rights but to collectively campaign for social justice. Meetings would be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during lunch. Some things included making care packages for the homeless, beach clean-up, or just chatting and making signs to raise awareness.

Some fun facts about me include that I've been a vegan for 3 years now and I can play the ukulele, kalimba, drums, guitar, and piano. I love learning new tunes and jamming out to ones I create on my own. I'm not a morning person but I still find it rewarding to wake up early to run. I've recently gotten into meditation and yoga just to get myself through the school day. One other cool thing is that I was featured in an article by VSCO, an art and technology firm, titled Celebrating Black joy and the diaspora of Black stories.
